Hugoton Police Department

POLICE PATROL

The Hugoton Police Department started in 1913 when Frank Flummerfelt was hired as City Marshall for the sum of $25.00 per month. He also had to maintain the city windmill and water well on Main Street. Through the years it has grown to a six-man department with a full-time Animal Control Officer.

The Hugoton Police Department provides 24-hour protection. Community-oriented policing has been the norm since the department's inception in 1913. The police work to prevent crime and patrol the city to ensure safety for the residents living in this small community. Their many responsibilities include investigating reported crimes and suspicious persons, traffic accidents and enforcing the law.

All officers work a 40-hour week with rotating shifts. Ongoing training (locally and out of town) is provided, and the department is committed to providing the best possible service to the community.
