SANITATION COLLECTION
The City of Hugoton has three trash trucks for picking up refuse in the community. Sanitation services are in operation Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays.
The City trash trucks haul to the county-owned and operated landfill on the northeast outskirts of Hugoton. The county landfill is closed to city services for holidays and during periods of extremely windy or muddy conditions. One full-time employee and three relief employees from other departments maintain the following pickup schedule.

SEWER DEPARTMENT
The wastewater treatment facilities are located on the northeast outskirts of Hugoton near the county landfill. The system consists of five (5) wastewater treatment lagoons. There is an average daily flow of 470,000 GPD. This flow accumulates from sixteen miles of sewer mains with five lift stations throughout Hugoton. The sewer mains are cleaned on a biannual schedule.
The sewer department employs one full-time employee working under the supervision of the Outside Utilities Supervisor.
